You’re not alone if this scenario sounds familiar. Almost everyone has experienced a food craving at some time or another. And sometimes willpower just isn’t enough to fight the urge.

However, there are some simple ways to indulge your cravings without adding a lot of extra calories to your diet. So if you’re craving:

Creamy: Choose sugar-free frozen chocolate or “creamsicle” bars. At about 45 calories each, they’re a sweet, indulgent treat that will satisfy your desire for something creamy.

Chocolate: Rather than wasting a bunch of calories on a boring candy bar, have a small piece of truly rich chocolate. Another option: Drink a mug of hot cocoa (sugar free versions have only 25 or so calories).

Crunchy: Skip the potato chips and corn chips! Instead, serve up a big bowl of air-popped popcorn, which is just 30 calories per cup.

Salty: Peanuts may be delicious, but just a handful totals hundreds of calories. If you want something salty, try some whole grain crackers or mini soy crisps.
